“My heart is closed,” wrote a woman to me after a Croatian TV aired a story about ‘Tajci finding new love after husband’s death.’

I agreed to do the story because it was an opportunity to send out a bit of hope and speak about love, healing, gratitude, family and all that keeps us going through this challenging time (you know it’s my favorite topic!)

I spoke about how it’s not (just) romantic love that heals, but the Infinite Divine Love that is within & around, above & beneath and on each side of us (of course, my message was framed in a bit of a different way in the media, as is often the case 😉 ).

I felt so sad. Not for the woman who wrote to me – I don’t believe her heart is really closed, otherwise she wouldn’t have written to me.

She explained that she was a widow too and has chosen to live from the memories of the past. She said she was waiting to be reunited with her husband some day in heaven.

I sensed sadness of how much she missed her late husband (and it triggered my own ache from losing Matthew) and I sent a prayer her way.

We are all on different paths, and I trust that Love is healing the woman in her own way. Just like Love has been healing me in a way that’s been good for me.

What made me sad, though, was the concept of ‘my heart is closed’. When this becomes someone’s belief, it can cause the very separation from Love.

And feeling separated from the Divine Love is awful.

I remember this separation as feeling incredibly lonely, scared, abandoned, ashamed, rejected, invisible, devastated, depressed…

I don’t ever want to experience the ‘separation’ again…

Even when we have to be separated from the people (or animals) we love deeply, we can face the pain of losing them because the Divine Love is bigger than our short, human life experiences.

It’s what carries us through the hard times of our lives and wraps us like a blanket when we are scared.

It’s the Divine Love that sits with us in stillness and listens to us when no one else is around.

It’s the Love that gives us that final nudge as we climb the hill (or a mountain) we always wanted to climb but never thought we could.

It’s the Love that winks at you when you laugh with someone so hard you think you’ll stop breathing 🙂

Or when you snuggle next to them and feel so incredibly grateful for their presence (something so many people miss right now during this time of social distancing and quarantine).

I need that Divine Love in every moment of my life. And I hope that you have it too.

I want it in my life. I invite it in, I slow down many times during my days to make sure I didn’t get too busy and leave her out waiting.

I spent my week working on this exquisite song and video (I’m so so so proud and grateful of my sister Sanya, David Langley, Brian Hanson, and my friend Dan Roeder – who sang so beautifully in this recording).

And I can assure you, I felt Love guiding my hands as I edited the video, keeping my heart open and my mind at peace. I love working with Love by my side. 🙂

The Prayer

When I was done, I reviewed the video and pasted the lyrics into the YouTube description. Then, I felt compelled to read the Italian words out loud – at which point, Love decided to pull out of my soul something both subtle and powerful, a feeling I can’t describe with words.

Let’s just say, it felt Italian – passionate and real and loud and achy and with a big smile across its face.

Say it with me (or listen to the song and let it speak to you):

La luce che tu dai / The light that you give
Nel cuore resterà / In the heart will remain
A ricordarci che / To remind us that
L’eterna stella sei / You are the eternal star
Nella mia preghiera / In my prayer
Quanta fede c’è / How much faith there is

And this:
Sognamo un mondo senza più violenza / We dream of a world with no more violence
Un mondo di giustizia e di speranza / A world of justice and of hope
Ognuno di la mano al suo vicino / Everyone gives his hand to his neighbor
Simbolo di pace e di fraternità / A symbol of peace and brotherhood
La forza che ci dai / The strength that you give us
E’ il desiderio che Ognuno trovi amor / Is the desire that everyone find love
Intorno e dentro a sé / Around and inside of himself

And then this: the faith you have ignited in us, I believe will save us…
‘Nuf said’ as my kids would say 🙂
E’ la fede che hai acceso in noi / And the faith you have ignited in us
Sento che ci salverà / I feel will save us

Enjoy the video and make sure your heart is open wide as you watch and listen. Share it with your friends, family and all the humans of the Earth and lean a bit deeper into the Divine Love that never gives up on us 🙂
